Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) checks the agreed machine functions and scope before shipment. Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) checks installation and operation after delivery to the customer’s facility.
Before FAT
- Agree the acceptance criteria.
- Prepare the trial material and sample workpieces.
- Confirm the programmes, tooling and options included.
- Agree how results will be recorded and reviewed.
Before SAT
- Prepare utilities and any required foundations to the installation specification.
- Arrange unloading and internal transport.
- Make operators and responsible site personnel available.
- Prepare test material and any required network or IT access.
- Confirm site safety arrangements and responsibilities.
Treat acceptance as a preparation process, with defined inputs and owners, rather than a single day of testing.
